Is it always failure to not reach a goal?

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? Some refuse to make them because they fear failure. I think goals/resolutions are beneficial. You accomplish more and do better, even if you don’t reach them, than if you didn’t set goals at all. If you do succeed, so much the better, but there IS benefit in the attempt with or without accomplishment.

I agree Cameron. I think that folks that fear failure fear it because they define success in very narrow terms. Making progress is success.. even if the finish line is not crossed in 2009.

I don’t think so, I think it’s failure not to try and not to set goals because of fear of failure.

By the way, Happy New Year – you’ve been tagged!

It occurs to me many of us have libraries that are goals set and not met, because we never manage to read all those books we get!

“I’m gonna read that epochal book on X… one day!”

Agreed! The personal/spiritual growth one experiences as they push toward the goal will benefit them regardless of whether the goal is attained.
