Just when you thought it was safe to be French . . .

I’ve tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but headlines like this don’t help the reputation:
Clinically Depressed Poodle Mauls Former French President Chirac.

This is one of the funniest things I have ever read for three reasons:
1. A poodle, clinically depressed? What, did the groomer slip and accidentally give the dog a crew cut? Did le baker burn his canine croissants? Ok, I guess life in France can be kind of RUFF.
2. I never thought of a poodle actually mauling anyone. Perhaps it was a Pit Poodle.
3. The thought that this could be big news in France certainly makes me smile. Poor Chirac, just when he thinks he can relax and enjoy life without the hassle of leading a country, his own poodle turns on him.
Hope you don’t mind if I change the subject, but I’ve been wondering what the word “nephos” means. Can you give me a hint?
Glad I wasn’t the only one who saw the humor here, tvb!
Also, Nephos is a Greek word for my last name, Cloud. I’m terribly uncreative when it comes to titles, and when I was naming my blog that was the best I could come up with.
