What is a God story? What does it involve? The content of a God story is primarily the action God has taken on behalf of His people. He is the center of the story. He is the hero, the protagonist, the focus.
Our stories usually are about us and our accomplishments. When it comes to God’s work in our lives, we have nothing to boast of. He is the one who has done it all.
Someone may say, “God hasn’t done anything for me lately.” Do this with me. Take a deep breath. God just did something. Every breath you breathe is from God. Acts 17.25 says, “He gives to all life, and breath, and all things.”
Even unbelievers receive from God. He causes it to rain on the just and the unjust. In such small things is the hand of God. But natural blessings are not the only work God does for us.
Anyone who has received Christ has been redeemed, regenerated, justified, sanctified, and glorified. I’d say that’s a pretty good story.
Even if you feel you don’t have much of a “testimony” because you never lived a “wicked” lifestyle, you have experienced God’s work. It takes as much of the grace of God to save a young child as a convicted murderer. You have a “God story.” You too can sing,
“I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore,
Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more.
But the master of the sea heard my despairing cry.
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.
Love lifted me, when nothing else could help, Love lifted me!”
