Worship is ultimately an expression of satisfaction with God. Since we prioritize what we delight in, idolatry can be defined as seeking elsewhere, the satisfaction that can be found only in God.
Because of this, a careful distinction must be noted between satisfaction in God and in the things He does for me. I must be sure to not take greater delight in the gifts rather than the giver. Thus may the very blessings of God become an idol – through a very subtle form of idolatry.
