It’s been a while since I have posted a Wednesday Prayer Thought, something that used to be a regular feature at Nephos. So for today, here’s a prayer from George Whitefield regarding repentance.
“Show them, O Father, wherein they have offended you; make them to see their own vileness, and that they are lost and undone without true repentance; and O give them that repentance, we beseech you, that they may turn from sin unto you the living and true God. These things, and whatever else you see needful for us, we entreat that you would bestow upon us, on account of what the dear Jesus Christ has done and suffered. To whom, with yourself, and holy Spirit, three persons, and one God, be ascribed as is most due, all power, glory, might, majesty, and dominion, now, henceforth, and for evermore. Amen.”
I’m reminded that Jesus taught us repentance is an essential part of prayer. “Forgive us our trespasses.” I’m also reminded that God has promised forgiveness to those who repent!
